The wines used in this blend was specially selected to produce a wine that is accessible and drinkable. This wine with fresh raspberry flavours is perfect to be enjoyed with light meat and pasta dishes.
The wine is named after Peter Pentz, owner of Groote Post, who is affectionately referred to by his children as “The Old Man”.
Winemaking
During harvest the different cultivars are kept separate through fermentation and ageing in third fill barrels.
After 8 months in wood the different cultivars are tasted separately and selected specially for the style of The Old Man’s Blend.
Blend: This Merlot based blend is partnered by Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz/Pinot Noir.
Wood Maturation: 60% tank fermented, 40% in 3rd fill barrel.
